Summary
The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining production schedules to ensure that customer demands are met efficiently and on time. This role involves coordinating with various departments such as production, procurement, inventory, and sales to balance capacity and demand, optimize resource utilization, and drive operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize the Production Schedule based on customer orders, forecasts, and production capacities.
- Ensure the schedule aligns with business objectives, resource availability, and inventory goals.
- Monitor and analyze production capacity to ensure alignment with the schedule, identifying and addressing bottlenecks or resource constraints.
- Coordinate with Production and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability and efficient resource allocation.
- Plan labor requirements based on production needs and work closely with Operations and HR to address staffing challenges.
- Update and maintain BOMs to ensure accurate planning and scheduling.
- Lead weekly OTD meeting to review progress, address bottlenecks, and drive improvements.
- Ensure that production schedules align with inventory strategies to minimize overstock or shortages.
- Act as the primary point of contact for scheduling-related inquiries and updates.
- Track and report scheduling-related KPIs, including OTD performance, schedule adherence, production efficiency, and capacity utilization.
- Proactively address deviations from the schedule to minimize disruptions.
- Continuously assess and improve scheduling processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and responsiveness.
- Implement best practices and adopt scheduling tools/technology as needed.
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to incorporate process changes and resolve production issues that impact scheduling.
- Ensure ERP or scheduling software is accurately maintained with up-to-date production data.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in production scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to forecast demand accurately using analytical skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic injection molding.
- Strong knowledge of capacity planning, labor planning, and scheduling best practices.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, IQMS is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
