Position Overview

The Human Resources Manager is primarily responsible for liaising between the payroll processing company and employees to ensure compliance with all employment/labor laws applicable to payroll administration and benefits programs through practices, policies, training, and actions. This individual will also liaise with brokers to implement, administer, and communicate all benefit programs. This role will report to Hallie Webster, Human Resources Manager.

Payroll

  • Primary liaison and contact for payroll processing company. Audit final payroll reports and hold payroll processing company accountable for maintaining employee records, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
  • Communicate with accounting when payroll is processed so funds can be transferred on time.
  • Communicate with management teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates or positions.
  • Responsible for processing and upkeep of employee’s hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, income withholdings, and other employee information.
  • Investigate any discrepancies between POS time records submitted by managers, and payroll program time records before processing.

 

People & Leadership

  • Foster a culture of celebration and appreciation by enhancing employee recognition programs.
  • Responsible for creating and launching an annual employee satisfaction survey.
  • Responsible for creating and analyzing exit surveys for hourly employees.
  • Support for teaching and advising people processes like progressive discipline and development and performance processes.
  • Support in launching company training and development strategy.
  • Support in identifying talent and interviewing potential candidates.

 

 

Benefits Administration

  • Primary liaison and contact for benefit brokers on various matters such as plan design, contract negotiations, coverage, and renewals.
  • Ensure that benefit plan agreements and contracts are accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with benefit brokers for the planning and execution of the annual Open Enrollment process.
  • Act as a liaison with benefit brokers to monitor benefits industry trends and implement best practices.

 

Compliance & Reporting

  • Work with OPOC for reports compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Work with OPOC to ensure the company is compliant with all federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices at restaurant levels.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Track and report on key labor metrics within the organization (turnover rate, duration in position, etc.)

 

Qualifications


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training within a payroll and benefits department.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Restaurant or hospitality experience a must.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and be self-motivated.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and driven with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information and material.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with Payroll software. HRIS experience is a plus.
