We are looking to add to our Safety team in our Phoenix, AZ office! The Safety Training Admin is responsible for assisting the VP Safety, Regional VP, Corporate Compliance Coordinator, and Safety Assistant with all local and regional safety needs. This includes new hire road tests, hands-on training of newly hired motorcoach operators, ongoing hands-on training for current motorcoach operators, and submitting required DOT paperwork, promotes the Company’s commitment towards safety to all employees and assists with maintaining and improving the company safety program.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
(Essential Functions)
- Responsible for assisting the Safety Assistant with training newly hired motorcoach operators using company approved and prescribed on-the-road training materials and curriculum.
- Responsible for assisting the Safety Assistant with conducting pre-employment road tests.
- Assists and/or serves as a liaison with the Safety Assistant to ensure compliance of DOT, federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules, and when necessary assist with training and compliance with OSHA, DOT, ADA, human resource paperwork, reporting, and record keeping.
- Consults with motorcoach operators regarding electronic logs and hours of service compliance issues, and other issues as needed.
- Assists in providing re-training/coaching plans for drivers who fail to meet Samsara video standards, post-accident, and work comp injury follow-up as needed in the region.
- Assists in gathering and submitting paperwork to ensure motorcoach operators have up to date DOT physicals, CDL licenses, clearinghouse queries, certificates of violations, and any other required and requested paperwork.
- Complies with company scheduled hours.
- Works in excess of normal working hours as workloads and seasonal activities are encountered.
- Complies with company and safety policies and procedures.
(Marginal Functions)
- Assists Regional VP with local safety needs as requested.
- Assists Safety Assistant with all other regional staff safety training.
- Assists VP Safety with accident/incidents occurring to equipment as needed.
- Assists when necessary with preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing and training employees on these policies and procedures.
- Contributes to process improvement on a regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School degree
- Some college preferred
Experience
- Three to five years work experience related to safety is preferred.
- One to two years experience driving a motorcoach OR equivalent experience in transportation with qualifications and/or certifications as a trainer (Safety and IMG training preferred.)
- Experience with electronic logs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a CDL license if expired, within 90 days of hire.
- Must have a clean and safe driving record with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Overall knowledge of safety in the transportation industry.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Willingness to learn new computer systems in a timely manner as necessary.
- Ability to communicate policies and procedures and implement safety and training programs.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Ability to present to different size groups and audience types.
- Ability to work with a variety of skilled/unskilled, professional and administrative personnel.
- Knowledge of and ability to administer DOT, OSHA, ADA requirements, local, state and federal codes, rules and regulations.
- Ability to learn company policies and training curriculum, and deliver both in a consistent and detailed manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive personal or company items.
- Must be flexible and willing to think out of the box.
- Must be a team player and willing to accept and support company processes and systems.
