JOB SUMMARY: The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC), located in Duluth, MN, has a full-time Accountant opening. The accountant is a technical expert and responsible for coordination, management and reporting of financial data of Arrowhead Regional Development Commission. Key responsibilities of this position include preparing and examining financial statements, monitoring company budgets, grants coordination and compliance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cash management, managing vendor and consultant contracts, and preparation and reconciliation of financial worksheets for audits. This position is a leader and a mentor to finance support staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and examine financial records for accuracy and compliance.
2. Reconciliation of bank statements and ledgers.
3. Manage income and expenditure accounts
4. Analysis of employee expenditures.
5. Support payroll functions.
6. Generate financial reports based on income and expenditure data.
7. Monitoring the organization’s finances based on financial status.
8. Coordinate accounts receivable and cash receipts processes.
9. Provide financial technical assistance, as needed.
10. Timecard data entry and review of electronic timecards.
11. Field and resolve timecard discrepancies and/or questions accurately.
12. Enter vendor invoices and process for payment.
13. Assist with development and management of division budgets as needed, making sure budget changes are tracked in GMS accounting software.
14. Complete and/or monitor required financial reporting to grantors per required due dates and follow through funds received. Become a user of DHS Grant Utility and Minnesota Management and Budget SWIFT; enter and monitor data.
15. Complete reporting requirements and requests for payments for agency Aging Division including Foundation, State and Federal awards.
16. Ongoing knowledge of ARDC Procurement process, along with Indirect Cost plan, and assist with compliance and administrative procedures.
17. File and follow all the requirements set forth in Notice of Grant Awards (NGA) as they pertain to use of funds and follow all timelines for accepting and/or requesting funds.
18. Maintain grants record keeping and filing system with sufficient supporting documentation for existing projects.
19. Complete and maintain a current project closeout process for all state and federal grant awards.
20. Under guidance of the ARDC Finance director, develop and implement feedback for annual ARDC agency audit preparatory and participation systems.
21. Participate in ARDC meetings and workgroups as needed and requested.
22. Routine maintenance of company vehicle (including but not limited to, oil changes, brake checks, and tire rotations.)
23. Order miscellaneous job supplies.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of related experience; or an AA degree and four years of related experience; or, 6 years of related work experience in Accounting, Finance or related field, could be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Also Required: Hiring for this position is contingent on passing a background check. A valid driver’s license is preferred.
Salary: $27.00-$34.00/hour (*based on experience
