Position Summary

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a related field
- Understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), including methods of financial reporting and financial statement preparation.
- Ability to utilize discretion, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Ability to lead, demonstrate initiative, and be an adept problem solver.
- Experience performing financial analysis.
- Experience with financial audits.
- Experience working with applicable laws, codes and regulations, including reviewing activity for compliance and completing regular agency reporting and monitoring.
- Practices of reviewing financial documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Organize own work, ability to multitask, identify and set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Perform independent research and analysis to resolve issues.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
- Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team goals, objections and activities.
- Interact successfully with diverse individuals from various backgrounds.

- Interpret, explain, and apply principles and practices of accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- Read, comprehend, and explain accounting & financial policies and procedures to multiple groups of audiences that vary in levels of understanding.
- Secure audit documentation and implement best practices to ensure timely and appropriate audit preparation.
- Perform independent financial research and analysis projects as directed; compose reports and recommendations; prepare communication and responses.
- Prepare and/or review accounting and financial documents to ensure the accuracy of information and calculations, including identification of the correcting entries as necessary.
- Prepare and/or review documentation of financial transactions to ensure compliance with audit standards, policies (internal & external), and internal procedures.
- Prepare, maintain, and review accounting records, including journal entries and reconciliations of the general ledger, subsidiary accounts, and external account statements; and prepare correcting entries as necessary.
- Prepare and/or review financial reports, and supporting schedules and documentation in accordance with audit standards.
- Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Assist with the completion and review of required tax filings.
- Prepare and/or review workpapers and documentation required for financial audits to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Exercise sound discretion and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
