Job Summary :
The Vice President of Brokerage will be responsible for overseeing the entire brokerage division, including strategy development, team management, and operational efficiency. This individual will lead efforts to expand our brokerage services, increase revenue, and build lasting relationships with both shippers and carriers. The VP of Brokerage will also play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, driving growth through effective sales and service strategies, and aligning brokerage goals with the company’s broader business objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Brokerage Strategy & Growth : Develop and execute the strategic vision for the brokerage division. Focus on expanding our customer base, increasing revenue, and improving profitability while maintaining high levels of service quality.
- Team Leadership & Development : Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of brokers and support staff. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to foster a culture of success and professional growth.
- Carrier & Shipper Relationships : Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with both shippers and carriers. Ensure that carriers are properly vetted and meet the company’s safety and service standards. Negotiate favorable terms with both sides to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Operational Efficiency : Oversee the day-to-day operations of the brokerage department to ensure that shipments are efficiently coordinated, deadlines are met, and customer satisfaction is maintained. Implement processes and technology to improve operational efficiency.
- Market Intelligence : Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify new opportunities and adjust the company’s brokerage strategy accordingly. Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes affecting the brokerage and transportation industry.
- Sales & Revenue Growth : Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities. Work with existing clients to ensure satisfaction, identify additional services, and maintain strong retention rates.
- Technology & Process Improvement : Leverage technology and digital platforms to streamline brokerage operations, enhance visibility, and provide real-time updates for both customers and carriers. Implement best practices to improve operational workflows and customer service.
- Financial Management : Manage the brokerage department’s budget, monitor expenses, and ensure that profit margins meet or exceed company goals. Implement cost-control measures where necessary while ensuring service quality is maintained.
- Compliance & Risk Management : Ensure that all brokerage operations comply with industry regulations and legal requirements. Manage risks related to freight brokerage and ensure proper documentation and reporting are maintained.
