Vintner and philanthropy family with a long history in the Willamette Valley, are seeking an Art Gallery and Wine Manager to join their team to support the launch of their “tasting gallery” which will include an art gallery from the family’s extensive art foundation, as well a tasting room that will pour their top tier estate wine. This one-of-a kind role combines the worlds of fine art and exceptional wine into a unique opportunity for a professional with extensive hospitality and customer service experience.

The Role

As Art Gallery and Wine Manager, will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our tasting room and art gallery space, reporting directly to the President and General Manager.  As long-time art collectors with several art galleries across the country, the family sees the potential of a skilled art gallery professional transitioning their skills to a tasting room and truthfully, your background in art gallery operations will be invaluable in creating a cohesive, world-class, elevated guest experience on site.  In both experiences, the key is engagement and creating a memorable experience. You’re listening and engaging through a shared interest in wine and art, both emotive expressions tied to history, place and often a unique story to be told.  The customer experience evolves in a similar way in both the arts and wine as well.

Your experience educating clients on an artist’s technique or a painting’s provenance translates ideally to explaining the founder’s winemaking style and the wine's terroir. We see the unique background prove successful as both art and wine are rooted in their history and the relationship is tied to the stewardship serve to enhance authenticity, connection and market appeal in both areas.

Prior P&L experience is not required for this role. While a strong knowledge of wine is not expected at the outset, a willingness to learn and passion for the industry is essential. We are looking for a candidate who can bring expertise in art gallery operations and translate those skills into creating exceptional wine experiences. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the tasting room and gallery space, providing a curated customer experience and ensuring a seamless integration of wine tasting and art appreciation
  • Play a key role in leading wine sales efforts, including conducting tastings with guests, educating guests about our wines, and creating unforgettable experiences
  • Collaborate with curatorial team to oversee the presentation and rotation of artwork in the gallery space
  • Coordinate marketing teams to align tasting room experiences with overall brand strategy
  • Train and supervise tasting room staff
  • Plan and execute special events, including wine release parties and art exhibitions
  • Record and keep detailed notes of each contact and experience for future outreach
  • Maintain detailed records of sales, inventory, and guest interactions, and maintain personal connections with guests throughout the year

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a managerial role at a reputable art gallery or museum, with exposure to operational aspects
  • Excellent sales skills and ability to build rapport with diverse clientele
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • Proficiency in POS systems and basic computer applications

    This role is based in the Willamette Valley and will operate daily out of the tasting room new Newberg, OR. Candidates must live full-time in the Willamette Valley. Commuting will not be offered for this role.
