Sales Floor Associate/Cashier Job Description

General Duties:

Helping and teaching customers painting, mosaics, clay hand building and fused glass

Answering questions for customers

Setting up tables for customers and parties

Clean up tables after use

Answering questions from walk ins and phone calls

Sales and Customer Service

Always suggesting selling all events to the customers. Such as: Theme nights (Taylor Swift, Harry Potter, etc.), glass classes, workshops, summer camps and monthly masterpiece classes.

Discussing with customers our kids and adult parties.

Suggesting and selling glass, mosaic, technique classes or clay hand building as an option for their next visit.

Collecting customer emails for marketing purposes

Promoting the company outside of work

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as company policies, training materials, and safety rules

Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees and to be able to teach them techniques

Ability to converse, read, and write in English

Effective communication skills in person and over the telephone

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts and percentages

Ability to handle money, making change correctly, and balancing deposits

Other Skills:

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work flexible hours that includes split shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends

Ability to work with specific computer software

Ability to interface with co-workers and customers in a positive way and maintain a high degree of professionalism and customer service

Physical Requirements:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move 10-20 pounds of inventory.

Frequently stock shelves with product

Get on a stepladder to reach for items and restock

Frequently have to lift and dispose of trash

Be on their feet, running around helping customers, up to 8 hour shifts. We rarely sit down at Art Bayou.

Cleanup

The employee must frequently clean up after customers. This includes:
Paint Brushes
Stamps
Sponges
Stencils
Tables
Chairs
Counters
Sinks
Floor

Lifting chairs, sweeping and mopping the floor

Clean bathrooms, sinks, and toilets

Environmental Requirements

While performing this job, the employee will be working with an extremely hot kiln.

The employee is required to follow all safety requirements regarding kiln procedures and to watch the kiln video.

Proper ventilation is provided in the kiln room due to heat and a slight odor.

All paints and glazes used in the studio are non-toxic.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $11.65 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week
