JOB OVERVIEW
As an Alternative Education Setting Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality virtual education to students being served in an online learning environment. You will employ effective instructional strategies, utilize digital tools, and foster a positive and engaging online learning experience. This role requires adaptability, a high level of technological proficiency in online platforms/learning management systems, and a commitment to supporting students in achieving their academic goals. This teacher must be able to troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance to students on accessing and using online resources.
The transportation portion of this position has the responsibility for scheduling and organizing all activity buses and 8-passenger vehicle transportation for athletic events and extracurricular activities. This includes managing travel schedules, communicating with drivers, working closely with transportation contractors and maintaining accurate records on the Travel Tracker program. This person will also troubleshoot any transportation issues and communicate with the athletic director, coaches, staff, and vendors to ensure smooth and efficient operations for all trips.
*Both roles will require extended work hours including evenings and weekends to assist students during non-traditional school hours, to address transportation issues and ensure timely, organized and safe travel for our students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching certificate or licensure
- Proven experience in online teaching or distance learning environments
- Strong understanding of educational technology and online learning platforms
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse student needs
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, staff, and stakeholders
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Student Support (1) Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments. (2) Foster a supportive online learning community by addressing student inquiries, concerns, and providing additional academic assistance, as needed.
- Assessment and Evaluation (1) Develop, administer, and grade assessments, quizzes, and exams to evaluate student progress. (2) Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and provide targeted interventions.
- Communication (1) Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and school administrators regarding progress, expectations, and any relevant updates. (2) Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the overall online learning experience.
- Professional Development Stay informed about trends and best practices in alternative and online education.
- Transportation Schedule and organize all athletic and activity transportation
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and Athletic Director
WORK SCHEDULE: 183 Day Contract
SALARY: Base salary determined by placement on APS Teacher Salary Schedule Increments in the amount of $1,594 (Alternative Setting) and $2,389 (Transportation).
