Job Description:
Casakids is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alternative Education Aide to join our team. The Alternative Education Aide at Casakids supports the Alternative Education Teacher and Caseworker in assisting middle and high school students who are at risk of dropping out, have been suspended, or are not enrolled in traditional education programs. This role encompasses classroom management, academic support, case management assistance, and transportation services. The aide will help maintain a structured, trauma-informed, supportive learning environment to encourage student success.
The Alternative Education Aide is expected to maintain professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality at all times, ensuring high-quality services and student safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom and Academic Support
- Assist the Alternative Education Teacher in classroom instruction and management.
- Provide academic assistance to students, including tutoring and guidance on coursework.
- Support students in completing assignments and using online learning platforms.
- Help maintain a structured and engaging classroom environment.
Case Management and Student Support
- Complete weekly progress reports on student performance and behavior.
- Enter case management data accurately and in a timely manner into the system.
- Support students in developing study habits, organization, and time management
- skills.
- Assist in implementing intervention plans developed by the Caseworker.
- Provide transportation for students to and from the Alternative Education Center.
- Participate in weekly Youth Team meetings.
Behavior and Crisis Support
- Help manage classroom behavior utilizing a trauma-informed environment.
- Utilize de-escalation strategies to support students in crisis.
- Provide secondary support to the Youth Team in addressing student needs.
- Assist in coordinating services between students, families, and school staff.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual- Spanish/English
- Some experience as a teacher's aide or teacher is highly preferred.
Education:
- An associate's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred; however, commensurate experience in a related field will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
Licenses:
- Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22,100.00 per year
Expected hours: 25 per week
