Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater, an established Rheumatology practice. The ideal candidate will work closely with and assist our Infusion Suite RN and LPN in providing high-quality patient care, ensuring efficiency and a positive experience for our infusion and injection patients.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate patient scheduling and follow-up appointments
- Manage incoming calls from Infusion/Injection patients in regards to canceling, rescheduling, or reaction inquiries for the nurse
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using EHR - NextGen
- Handle administrative tasks such as insurance verification and prior authorization status 72hrs prior to the scheduled appointment
- Conduct inventory check of all infusion and injection drugs
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred
- Minimum of 2yrs experience preferred
- Experience in Rheumatology or a similar specialty is a plus
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- CPR/BLS certification required
