Position Title
Support Specialist/Front Desk Behavioral Health and Primary Care
Reports To
BH PC Support Staff Supervisor
Overall
Responsibility
Assist our consumers and staff by providing excellent customer service, gathering financial and demographic data, collecting payments, scheduling appointments, and making appointment reminder calls for behavioral health and primary services
Attendance
- Maintains compliance with agency attendance policy
- Attends agency meetings as directed by supervisor
Communication
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and proficient in telephone etiquette
- Communicates with supervisor in a timely manner, any problems, concerns or clinic issues
- Accurately communicates information with other staff involved in treatment or billing to support an integrated approach
- Seeks advice from supervisor in high risk situations
Customer Relations
- Orients the person to the facility services, rights, grievance procedures, and assessing crisis interventions
- Understands and works effectively to advocate for staff and consumers when appropriate
- Sets clear boundaries with consumers and staff
- Exhibit efficiency, cooperation, respect and trustworthiness
- Maintains a strong working relationship with referring agencies
Job Duties
- Understands and maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA regulations
- Proficient in computer skills
- Ability to master an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to schedule patients, enter and update patient demographics, understand the patient’s account, schedule related services as needed, call patients to remind them of their appointments
- Ability to learn and understand other services provided in our organization such as dental outpatient services, CPR adult and youth services, and residential programs
- Ability to work independently and effectively in an interruptive environment
- Ability to answer patient questions and phone calls regarding services and providers including CPR youth and adult workers
- Thorough knowledge of various office equipment and their functionality (scanners, credit card machines, phones, copier).
- Understands requirements of payers (DMH, Self –pay, Private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare)
- Check and Verify patient insurance.
- Ability to verify patient payer though web services or phone call, ability to assign proper payer to patient encounter
- Ability to understand and collect amounts owed by patients for all services
- Assist providers and other organization staff when needed
- Other duties assigned by the supervisor or CCO.
Degree
Requirements
- require minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- prefer a course in medical terminology
Physical Requirements
This is a position that requires long periods of sitting, computer data entry and lifting up to 20 lbs. in a medical office setting.
