Description
Primary Purpose: The Quality Assurance Document Control Specialist assists in ensuring food safety and quality standards are met by being the lead point of contact for all quality assurance and food safety documents. Reports directly to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities:
Quality Programs and Compliance
- Has primary responsibility for the management and organization of the SQF program documents.
- Has primary responsibility for the management and organization of all customer and consumer complaints directed to the QA department. Works directly with the Customer Service Department in order to organize, resolve, and file complaints in a timely manner through Everest and other complaint management systems.
- Working with the QA Manager be the liaison for gathering information and other data to complete a proper CAPA for all complaints and out of compliance product.
- Working with the QA Manager be the lead for managing the EMP Program and documents.
- Primarily responsible for keeping all documents and binders up to date and audit ready at all times.
- Maintains all ID preserved programs, including but not limited to organic, kosher, halal, NGMO, and others as applicable.
- Performs product and material traces to ensure accuracy of data and inventory management systems.
- Performs mock trace exercises as needed.
Audit Support
- Support Quality Manager during facility visits, audits and inspections
- Retrieve documentation and records, track down needed individuals and any other information or people as requested during the audit process
Training and Employee Education
- Engage production employees in Good Manufacturing Practices, programs and policies to educate and improve compliance
- Facilitate training sessions with employees when quality programs or policies are implemented or changed
- Working with the QA Manager, schedule facility wide and individual training on any updates and changes to procedures, and any new documents and procedures.
Additional Duties
All other duties as assigned by Quality Manager
Qualifications
Education, Qualities and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in science or similar degree or food manufacturing experience preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in SQF and other third-party audit documentation; and leading SQF and other third-party quality and food safety audit programs
- Demonstarted ability to train others on food safety audit programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently
- Effective collaboration and influence skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred
- Attention to detail; thorough and accurate in work
Supervisory Responsibility:
No direct supervision required.
Work Environment:
Typical office working environment which includes a workstation equipped with a computer and other office supplies necessary for daily tasks. Typically climate-controlled to provide a comfortable working temperature year-round. Will also occasionally work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures range from 30°-100°F. Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in required areas.
Lighting is usually a mix of natural and artificial sources to ensure sufficient lamination.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectations of 45 hours per week, to be worked during normal business hours.

8. Reaching and Bending: Reaching above shoulder height and bending to access files and office supplies.
9. Hearing: Adequate hearing ability to participate in meetings and teleconferences.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $24-$30.
