BASIC FUNCTIONS |
In addition to daily responsibilities and duties, the Logistics Coordinator plans the movement of goods daily/weekly, including scheduling deliveries and pickups for a refrigerated food manufacturer. Ensures efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods to customers. Communicates and forwards detailed information with Customer Service, Procurement and Warehousing to ensure timely and accurate delivery/receipt of goods. Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure the best possible outcome for customer deliveries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES |
· Identify and organize daily/weekly sales orders and coordinate pickup/delivery dates with carriers based upon sailing schedule.
· Arrange and schedule trucks for the pickup and delivery of raw materials and ingredients to meet production and supply timelines. Collaborate with the Procurement team to align delivery schedules with purchase orders and vendor availability.
· Issues daily/weekly recap of sales order data to Shipping Department for planning and scheduling purposes.
· Monitors transportation costs and work to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
· Evaluates and selects carriers based on criteria such as cost, reliability and coverage areas.
· Communicate with customers, carriers and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery/receipt of goods.
· Track shipments in real time to identify potential delays and provide updates to stakeholders.
· Troubleshoot transportation issues and resolve disputes with carriers and/or customers.
· Assist in managing the CHEP pallet program for both plant locations, including tracking inventory, coordinating shipments, and ensuring compliance with CHEP policies and procedures.
· Create and maintain accurate records of transportation activities and costs.
· Reviews daily/weekly freight invoices and approves payment/assigns cost center for payment.
· Continuously evaluate and improve logistics planning processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
· Stay up to date on industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance and best practice.
· Track and communicate to stakeholders’ specific requirements needed for individual customers (temp tales monitoring, BOL/Packing Slip documentation requirements, pallet placarding requirements)
· Create and manage reports identifying on-time delivery, OS&D rates, lane rates and transportation cost per case shipped.
· Willing to work off shift as needed.
