JOB SUMMARY
The Material Buyer / Planner is responsible for supporting the supply plans from vendors, translating demand into orders to support business units, and providing materials management for items purchased. Ensures timely delivery while maintaining a high level of customer focus.
This role is tasked with building and maintaining strong relationships with sales, finance and transportation by managing inventory levels in a make-to-stock and make-to-order environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Analyze material needs by creating sales orders for the required materials, quantity, and delivery deadlines.
- Track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and address any potential issues.
- Identify and address purchase orders that will not meet the required delivery date working cross functionally with Sales and Transportation to develop root causes of delays.
- Assist Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Support and provide direction regarding material availability or limitations with inventory and develop action plans to address.
- Gather necessary resources to address action items and follow up on all material shortage related issues.
- Communicates / elevates issues as needed to stakeholders by providing possible solutions to address material shortages.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
