Job Expectations
- Deliver care delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN to assigned patient population.
- Follow the patient’s plan of care and prioritize tasks based on patient acuity, resources, preferences, and provider schedule.
- Perform technical procedures, including medication administration, CPR assistance, procedures, and lab draws as defined by the clinical setting.
- Adapt approaches based on age or cultural differences.
- Implement assigned parts of the patient teaching plan and document care in the medical record.
- Communicate effectively with the delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN and ensure continuity of care.
- Respond appropriately to emergent situations and function as a care team assistant when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and share information only with those who need to know.
- Adjust care approaches based on the developmental level and cultural needs of the patient population.
- Partner with patients/caregivers in decision-making and ensure a safe environment.
- Customize care plans and modify clinical interventions based on the population served.
- Provide patient education according to assessed learning needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in work processes and environment.
- Identify workflow improvement opportunities and participate in meetings to support initiatives.
- Communicate effectively within the healthcare team.
- Engage in changes to enhance the work environment and patient experience.
