Position Summary
Plan, develop, and oversee exhibitions and art programs for City facilities in alignment with the Department of Arts and Culture's strategic goals. Conduct extensive research, manage exhibit installations, train staff, and promote community awareness through educational and outreach initiatives. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure high-quality exhibits and effective program delivery; provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to higher level management staff.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in history, art history, art, anthropology, museum studies or a related field; and
Four (4) years of experience curating art exhibits; and
To include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

- Develop exhibits that reflect community art and showcase emerging and established artists
- Foster discussions on contemporary art and its transformation at the regional level through exhibits
- Apply exhibition design principles, balancing audience needs and space limitations
- Monitor and ensure art appropriateness for various audiences, addressing issues as necessary
- Communicate contemporary art issues and art philosophy clearly and concisely
- Manage exhibition records and art sales transactions
- Provide staff training on the care and safety of art exhibits
- Conduct research and analysis; prepare reports
- Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
