JOB DESCRIPTION: The Restorative Practices and PBIS Coordinator supports the leadership team to ensure the campus is safe and orderly. The Restorative Practices and PBIS Coordinator assists in developing a school-wide culture of learning, respect, and community engagement and builds an atmosphere of safety and accountability. The Restorative Practices and PBIS Coordinator assists students in developing positive and effective social behaviors, supports teachers in managing challenging classroom behaviors; and supports parents in communicating their needs and questions and resolving concerns.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leading the school-wide PBIS implementation and initiatives
- Analyzing school-wide behavioral data and making recommendations based on the data
- Work with the leadership counseling team and school staff to create an atmosphere of respect among all members of the campus community. Support the communication with parents, faculty, and instructional leaders to ensure a shared vision of a respectful school community
- Lead the implementation of Restorative Justice Programs
- Cultivate the socio-emotional well-being of the student body by assisting in developing and implementing programs and strategies to promote positive social growth and awareness, including but not limited to peer counseling, group counseling, bullying awareness week, etc.
- Participate in developing school-wide initiatives, assemblies, and policies related to safety, violence prevention, and positive school culture
- Research resources and assist in creating lessons that support the teaching and implementation of Arts in Action’s mission and vision
- Collaborate with the counseling team to develop a small group curriculum. Topics may include, but are not limited to, emotion management, social skill development, self-esteem, and healthy lifestyles
- Facilitate and/or co-facilitate small group implementation with the counseling team (see possible topics above) and independently facilitate small groups, as appropriate
- Meet with students as needed to support their emotional needs and concerns. Follow up with the appropriate documentation and communication with relevant parties (e.g., teachers, parents)
- Facilitate frequent communication with parents and families about student needs and concerns
- Collaborate with the counseling and leadership team to conduct student observations in the classroom to build effective behavior support plans
- Collaborate with the counseling and leadership team in planning and executing monthly student recognition assemblies
- Collaborate with the counseling team to develop parent education programs around mental health, socio-emotional well-being, behavioral expectations, parenting skills, support services available in the community, etc.
- Collaboration with the school leadership team and other stakeholders in the creation and implementation of different tiers of social-emotional and behavioral support
- Mentor students regularly and develop a system to track these sessions
- Lead the tracking/entering of behavioral incident data into the school’s Student Information System
- Conduct investigations when an incident occurs on campus by collecting relevant witness statements
- Other tasks assigned by the School Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- TB Test clearance & Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
- Five or more years experience working in an elementary or middle school setting
- Two or more years experience working as a school leader (assistant principal, dean, restorative justice coordinator, etc.)
- Knowledge of Positive Behavior Incentives and Support (PBIS)
- Conversational and Written Proficiency in Spanish and English (strongly preferred)
- Technology expertise in Google Docs and computer knowledge (strongly preferred)
WAGE AND BENEFITS: This is a full-time, 12-month certificated salaried position starting at $76,500-$105,687 annually. Pay starts at a higher rate based on experience and the number of educational units/degrees. A competitive benefit package is included.
