What are the responsibilities and job description for the Splendor in the Grass Gallery Fellowship position at ArtWorks?
Description
About the Fellowship
The Splendor in the Grass Gallery Fellowship is an immersive experience designed for creatives aged 16–24 to explore personal narrative and artistic development through drawing and storytelling. Hosted by ArtWorks in partnership with artist-in-residence Julia Lipovsky, this fellowship provides hands-on learning in illustration, journaling, creative play, and professional development.
During the program, Fellows will illustrate every lyric in Jackie DeShannon’s 1968 song Splendor in the Grass, using artmaking as a tool to revisit and capture moments of personal significance. Through guided workshops and mentorship from Lipovsky, participants will refine their artistic voice and gain insight into exhibition planning. The fellowship culminates in a group gallery showcase, where Fellows will present their work to the public.
The first love I've ever had
The first time I went mad
The first time I left home
The first time I felt alone
The first time my heart was hurt
The first thing I did wrong
If I had one wish I'd ask
To relive splendor in the grass
The first time I was ever kissed
The very first person I did miss
The first time I said goodbye
The first time I felt I'd die
The first time I felt shame
The first time I was to blame
If I had one wish I'd ask
To relive splendor in the grass
The first time I did see
The wonder of the sea
The first time I did hold
A baby close to me
The first one I held near
The first time I felt tears
If I had one wish I'd ask
To relive splendor in the grass
