As an Assistant Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive the support and guidance they need to build independent and fulfilling lives.
Position Overview
The Assistant Manager provides direct support to individuals in their daily living activities while promoting recovery-oriented care. This role involves assisting persons served with goal-setting, skill development, and crisis intervention, while also ensuring the residence is well-maintained and operating smoothly. Additionally, the Assistant Manager supervises operations in the Manager’s absence and collaborates with medical professionals to coordinate psychiatric and somatic needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain familiarity with the needs, goals, and progress of individuals on assigned caseload.
- Support persons served in developing daily living skills, such as money management, diet planning, shopping, cleaning, and personal hygiene (ADLs).
- Assess stages of change and apply appropriate recovery-based interventions.
- Assist with medication monitoring, review medication supply, and ensure compliance.
- Provide transportation as needed for appointments, job searches, and community activities.
- Assist with new move-ins and facilitate a welcoming transition for residents.
- Apply crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
- Supervise and maintain the overall condition of the residence, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Work collaboratively with medical providers to coordinate psychiatric and somatic care.
- Support residents in their journey of recovery from mental illness, physical illness, and substance use.
- Step in as a supervisor in the absence of the Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college/university, plus at least one year of experience in mental health or psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Option 2: 60 college credits in a related field, plus two years of experience in mental health or psychosocial rehabilitation.
- Strong understanding of mental health recovery, crisis intervention, and independent living skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to provide transportation if needed.
