Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Collections Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting customers to collect outstanding payments, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining positive relationships while ensuring timely account resolution. Your ability to negotiate effectively and provide excellent customer service will be key to your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Management: Contact customers via phone, email, and mail to collect outstanding payments on overdue accounts.
- Negotiation: Discuss payment plans, negotiate repayment terms, and secure payment commitments.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document all collection activities, including customer interactions, payment arrangements, and account updates, in the system.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve customer disputes or billing discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
- Compliance: Adhere to federal, state, and company regulations and guidelines related to debt collection.
- Customer Service: Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor, ensuring a positive customer experience while achieving collection objectives.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as billing and customer service, to resolve account issues and improve processes.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze reports to track collection efforts and account statuses, providing updates to management as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Previous experience in collections, accounts receivable, or customer service is a plus.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to handle challenging conversations.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in using computers and software applications, including CRM and collections systems.
- Familiarity with debt collection laws and regulations (e.g., FDCPA) is a plus.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
