Material Handler
Additional Position Details: This is a Flexible Workforce (on-call) position that will have a variable schedule and requires the flexibility to work variable hours and variable days of the week - to include day, evening, weekend, and holidays hours. The majority of the shifts will be within the day shifts, however there can be some swing shifts needing coverage at times. Availability and the willingness to be added to the weekend rotation coverage is required as well.
Salary: Starting at $18.10 an hour and up (based on years of relevant experience). For this Flexible Workforce position, you will also earn an extra 15% on top of your hourly base rate. Plus, you will also earn extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours:
- $1.16 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
- $2.00 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am

Position Summary
The Material Handler delivers supplies, specimens, data and paperwork to departments as requested in a confidential and timely manner. Other responsibilities include sorting U.S. and interoffice mail within the appropriate department slots; receiving, storing, and issuing supplies from inventories; maintaining adequate inventories to meet customer needs; utilizing non-stock processes and implementing off-campus deliveries; performing inventory control, identifying variances and back orders; restocking supplies quickly and accurately; rotating inventories while noting expiration dates and ensuring integrity of supplies. The Material Handler also proactively maintains a clean, orderly and safe work environment ensuring operations within DNV and OSHA guidelines; performs routine inventory cycle counts of warehouse stock supplies; and assists with special projects as needed. Must have competent communication skills in supporting the conveyance of supply issues to Purchasers, Supervisor or Inventory Coordinator.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required
Experience
- Experience with inventory management and freight maintenance, preferred
Other Skills & Abilities
- Competent with computers
- Ability to quickly assess situations and apply critical thinking skills in a high stress level environment
- Strong customer service skills including good verbal communication skills with all customers
- Ability to rapidly and accurately match product numbers and descriptions to products for proper inventory management and record keeping
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to efficiently organize priorities while maintaining good customer relations during continual interactions with Asante employees and vendor delivery personnel
- Ability and desire to work as part of a team with a clear understanding of team building principles
- Ability to utilize warehouse equipment i.e. electric pallet jack, hand truck, pallet jack, dock lift
