Job Duties: Operate the lab at the lowest possible operating cost, with emphasis on quality assurance and safety, and in an environmentally acceptable manner. Under general supervision, performs a variety of tests and analysis. Ensure accurate and timely results from various assaying procedures to determine the analysis of incoming material, in-process material, and finished
products. Promote and maintain safety and good housekeeping in the lab and ensure the lab is in compliance with EPA, State and Company regulations. Complete sample analysis by means of atomic absorption, wet chemistry and X-Ray methods. Analyze, in a timely and accurate manner, QAQC, 24 hour and daily mill samples. Report results from daily, monthly and special analyses in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain an organized and accurate record of analyses. Provide analytical support to all departments of the operation. Research ways to improve and keep current with industry standards, lab and lab procedures. Analyze acid for color, strength, iron and SO2. Analyze Anode for metals. Analyze WTP samples for SO2 and SO3. Analyze concentrates, blister and anode for pay metals and selected impurities to determine values and information to metal accounting, process metallurgy and environmental reporting. Operate atomic absorption spectrometers and accessories, colorimeters, ph./specific ion meters, balances, furnaces, sulfur analyzers and various other analytical instruments, and apparatus. Meet the departmental goals for each of the key objectives. Analyze in-process materials from smelter and mill for required analyses. Perform chemical and physical tests and generate data concerning incoming material, in-process material and finished product. Required to maintain calibration of equipment according to existing procedures.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field. 1 year of related experience. Experience with Fire assay for the analysis of silver and gold. Experience in Mechanical and analytical aptitude. Experience with Wet chemistry, X-RAY, and AA. Knowledge in: Instrumentation. Proficiency in: MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
