Wood Finisher Tasks & Duties (What you'll do)

• Sanding and cleaning wood surfaces to remove imperfections and prepare them for finishing

• Applying stains, varnishes, lacquers, or other finishes using brushes, spray guns, or cloths

• Buffing and polishing finished surfaces

• Performing quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards and making necessary adjustments or corrections

• Apply stains, polyurethanes, conversion varnish, paints, catalyzed and non-catalyzed lacquers along with water based and other finishes.

• Do color matching and stain samples for custom millwork projects.

• Prep and finish solid wood and wood veneer projects.

• Use spray equipment to apply coatings to wood cabinetry and trim.

• Mix tinting ingredients to match colors while keeping track of color formulas for future reference.

• Ability to spray finishes through HVLP or air assist equipment.

• Insure that finished surfaces are smooth and free from inconsistencies and debris prior to finishing.

• Experience in repairing damaged products to “like new” status.

• Knowledgeable in filling cracks, imperfections or holes in wood and prepare surfaces between coats for additional finishing.

• All types of finishes including faux, glazing, oiled, paint and primed etc.

• Maintain work area so that it is organized, chemicals are properly stored in fire safe cabinets ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations.

• Other duties as assigned

• Skills & Abilities:

  • Knows how to read blueprints and material specifications.

  • Able to identify wood and veneer species.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

  • Responsible for all aspects of finish work

  • Attention to detail and design.

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of finishing.

  • Ability to train apprentices when necessary.

  • Do color matching and stain samples for custom millwork projects.

  • Ability to work alone and with others to solve design issues.

  • Experience in repairing damaged products to "LIKE NEW" status

  • Other duties are assigned

  Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline orientated environment

Wood Finisher Shift Info

• Day Shift, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM

• Monday - Friday OT available

Wood Finisher Qualifications (Requirements/Skills)

• Wood Finisher experience preferred - resume only

• GED / High School Diploma

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

• Able to pass a background check

• Able to work in the US

• Trade School completion is preferred

• Requires a minimum of two-year Millwork finishing

• Trade school experience preferred

• Proficiency with tools and equipment used in wood finishing, such as sanders, spray guns, and brushes

• Comprehensive knowledge of various finishing materials, including stains, varnishes, lacquers, and sealants

• Physical ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods
