Full-time position, Monday – Friday, $25.00- $30.00 per hour based on experience and skill level, this is an hourly position with overtime available. Paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, medical, dental, and life insurance.
Job Summary:
JK Concepts is an Architectural Millwork company. We are looking for an experienced Master wood finisher to add to our Team! We specialize in high-end custom millwork projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Apply stains, polyurethanes, conversion varnish, paints, catalyzed and non-catalyzed lacquers along with water based and other finishes.
- Do color matching and stain samples for custom millwork projects.
- Prep and finish solid wood and wood veneer projects.
- Use spray equipment to apply coatings to wood cabinetry and trim.
- Mix tinting ingredients to match colors while keeping track of color formulas for future reference.
- Ability to spray finishes through HVLP or air assist equipment.
- Insure that finished surfaces are smooth and free from inconsistencies and debris prior to finishing.
- Experience in repairing damaged products to “like new” status.
- Knowledgeable in filling cracks, imperfections or holes in wood and prepare surfaces between coats for additional finishing.
- All types of finishes including faux, glazing, oiled, paint and primed etc.
- Maintain work area so that it is organized, chemicals are properly stored in fire safe cabinets ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knows how to read blueprints and material specifications.
- Able to identify wood and veneer species.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
- Responsible for all aspects of finish work
- Attention to detail and design.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of finishing.
- Ability to train apprentices when necessary.
- Ability to work alone and with others to solve design issues.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline orientated environment.
Education and Experience:
- Requires a minimum of two-year Millwork finishing
- Trade school experience preferred
Requirements:
- Great attitude, dependable, and demonstrate an excellent work ethic
- Self-starter that can take direction
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Push/pulling material of various sizes and weights
- Standing approximately 100% of the work shift at designated work areas
- Reaching up to heights of 60 inches to position and retrieve needed materials
- Must be able to lift weights up to 50 pounds. If more than 50 pounds team members are required to seek assistance from another team member before lifting and use proper lifting techniques
