Underwriting Manager – International Bank – Bronx, NY (Hybrid)
The Underwriting Manager leads and supports the underwriting team, performing credit analysis, due diligence, and document reviews for new transactions while managing ongoing team performance. Key responsibilities include overseeing the underwriting process for commercial, construction, and residential loans, ensuring loans meet bank guidelines, and reviewing transactions for compliance with policies and regulations. They prepare status reports for executive management, stay informed on economic and regulatory conditions, and deliver efficient loan services. The manager also provides training, conducts performance reviews, and fosters staff development to maintain high productivity.
Essential Functions
- Oversee underwriting for commercial, construction, and residential loans.
- Analyze financial feasibility of transactions, including construction loans.
- Manage underwriting workflow and ensure timely, complete documentation.
- Review loan adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare reports for executive management and provide ad-hoc support.
- Ensure effective loan delivery and system training for staff.
Competencies & Skills
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in commercial and real estate loan collections, financial analysis, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to analyze real estate projects for financial feasibility and market conditions.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in real estate lending, with at least 2 years in residential underwriting or C&I.
Salary : $120,000 - $145,000
