The Afterhours Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing transportation operations during evening hours to ensure the safe, on-time execution of heavy haul projects. This role ensures all capacity is assigned efficiently, standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed, and shipments remain on track throughout the night. The Afterhours Project Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining service standards, troubleshooting issues, and supporting carrier relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispatch trucks accurately to maintain a smooth flow of product and meet customer demands.
- Negotiate with transportation providers to secure the best rates and service.
- Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery, providing real-time tracking and updates (Track & Trace).
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers to ensure capacity and monitor service performance.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, internal teams, and stakeholders to address transportation needs.
- Apply accessorial charges as needed and ensure proper documentation.
- Update and maintain transportation management and operations systems (TMS).
- Prioritize workload and tasks to focus on key service and quality performance issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex transportation challenges quickly and effectively.
- Utilize specialized industry and company systems, reference materials, and industry knowledge to process shipments accurately.
- Work extended hours as needed to support project demands.
- Maintain consistent attendance and professionalism in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
