Eligible for sign on bonus of $1000 total - $500 paid out after 30 days of employment and an additional $500 paid out after 3 months of employment
Ascension Childcare, Inc is seeking an experienced Preschool Educator to join and compliment our experienced, diverse, and dedicated teaching team. We are an established, NAEYC accredited, 5 STAR, SEED & Sew certified early education program in Shelburne that currently serves 55 children. We implement play-based, emergent curriculum, building experiences and exploration opportunities for children based on their curiosities about the world around them! We implement anti-bias education, ensuring we honor and value each child, each family, and each staff member. We foster a supportive, collaborative, and fun work environment for all staff.
Duties
This Preschool Educator will teach within a multi-age co-teaching team model, and is responsible for the care and education of up to 20 children, ages 3-5. Co-teachers in this classroom collaborate to create a warm classroom environment filled with wonder and hands-on exploration. Patience, compassion, creativity and knowledge of young children are essential to success.
Preschool Educators at Ascension have nurturing relationships with every child in the class but take special responsibility for their individual groups of 6-7 primary students. Educators balance whole-group classroom activities with frequent opportunities for small group learning within one of our additional learning spaces (studio space, indoor gross motor room, or our expansive playground). This educator will utilize provocation and observation to implement emergent curriculum with their primary group. Additional roles related to primary students include, taking lead on communication with their families and completing formal assessments through Teaching Strategies Gold twice a year. As a Universal PreK Partner Program, Preschool Educators use the domains of the Vermont Early Learning Standards as guidance for their curriculum.
Requirements
Must have an ability to multitask, provide constant supervision, and engage children with creative and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities. Strong classroom management skills are important. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are desired. Ability to play, anticipate, observe, create, and laugh are a must!
We expect all Ascension staff to use positive, encouraging language with children and implement positive behavior management strategies. Applicants must have experience with or willingness to learn about anti-bias education.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must be available for full time employment between the hours of 7:30-5:30, M-F.
