Our Am Law 100 client is seeking a junior- to mid-level patent prosecution and counseling associate to work on cutting-edge technology for some of the world’s top tech companies. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with innovators in rocket engines, satellite technology, neural networks, automation, and robotics. The position will involve significant partner and client interaction, with the expectation that the associate will take initiative and independently manage their workload.
Key Responsibilities:- Handle patent prosecution and counseling, with opportunities to support related legal work.
- Work closely with engineers, developers, and technology leaders to understand and protect their innovations.
- Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Provide strategic advice on patent portfolios, intellectual property protection, and risk assessment.
- Engage in direct client interactions with leading technology companies.
- Collaborate with partners and global teams to deliver high-quality legal solutions.
- Manage a highly technical and dynamic caseload involving a broad range of innovations.
- 2 years of experience in patent prosecution and counseling.
- Technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, computer science, or equivalent field.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active U.S. bar membership and registration to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both engineers and legal professionals.
- Confidence in managing client relationships and high-level interactions with industry leaders.
- Annual salary range: $235,000 – $390,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
