Responsibilities
Administer prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN)/(LVN) and maintain related medical records.
- Present medication to patient and observe ingestion or administer medication using specified procedures.
- Take vital signs or observe patient to detect response to medication, and report reactions.
- Restock medication inventories.
- May provide direct patient care. Assure resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action as appropriate.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Medication Aide obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
