Duties
- Assisting library patrons of all ages with effective use of library facilities and resources.
- Creating and maintaining patron library accounts.
- Circulating books, audiovisual, and other library materials.
- Providing reference services to the public.
- Assisting in the use of public computers, copiers, and other technology.
- Accurately completing financial transactions.
- Returning borrowed items to the correct location on shelving.
- Maintaining the branch’s cleanliness and organization.
- Planning and presenting programming to all ages.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in a busy library setting, subject to moderate noise. Must be able to move about the library, transport weight up to 25 pounds, communicate, and use equipment such as a computer, telephone, digital equipment and scanner, microfilm reader/printer, fax machine, and photocopiers. Must be able to retrieve library materials from tall shelves.
Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with technology, including Microsoft Office, online retrieval of information, and the ability to learn library applications such as eBooks and other digital downloads.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
