JOB PURPOSE
To perform general maintenance functions assigned to the Facilities Maintenance Department including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires frequent bending, stooping and reaching above shoulder level. Requires occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling, and balancing. Requires frequent lifting and carrying weight up to 35 pounds and occasional pushing or pulling weight up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated: Carpenter's hand tools, power tools, painting equipment.
Work Location: Carpentry Shop, maintenance hangars, housing areas.
Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, gloves, and respirators.
Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature; materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, desert wildlife and insects, working around moving machinery.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
- Repairs and maintains physical structures of building using hand tools and power tools.
- Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures.
- Paints structures using painting equipment such as brushes and rollers.
- Repairs woodwork with carpenter's tools.
- Repairs plumbing fixtures.
- Repairs plaster and lays brick.
- Builds sheds and other outbuildings.
Marginal Job Functions:
- Maintains log of materials used.
- Maintains log of hours worked.
- Maintains and repairs tools.
- Ensures that shop area is clean and free from hazards.
- Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions.
SMS REQUIREMENTS
- Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance.
- Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
- Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; working knowledge of building construction and general maintenance procedures; attention to detail and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow verbal and written instruction; ability to interpret and apply technical data relating to position; ability to safely drive and operate a standard shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment; ability to work without supervision.
Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: One to three years experience in general facilities maintenance preferred.
Certificates/Licenses: Current valid Arizona drivers license with clear driving record for past three years required.
Other: May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
