The Transportation Specialist for Ascent Global Logistics - LTL Brokerage is primarily responsible for quoting and scheduling LTL, Volume LTL, and/or Expedite shipments in order to provide a cost savings and a high level of service to our customers. In this role you will be in direct communication with our customers in order to meet their shipping needs and add value to their overall experience with Ascent Global Logistics.

What You'll Do
The Transportation Specialist for Ascent Global Logistics - LTL Brokerage is primarily responsible for quoting and scheduling LTL, Volume LTL, and/or Expedite shipments in order to provide a cost savings and a high level of service to our customers. In this role you will be in direct communication with our customers in order to meet their shipping needs and add value to their overall experience with Ascent Global Logistics.
- Effectively receive shipment information via phone or email and conduct rating with carriers in order to support cost savings to our customers
- Review, approve, and execute all quotes and shipments submitted via the web portal
- Provide competitive quotes to our customers through effective rating and carrier selection
- Ensure shipments are picked up on a timely basis and delivered as scheduled to meet our customer delivery requirements.
- Effectively dispatch carriers assigned to shipments and provide bills of lading to customers and/or shipper contacts.
- Resolve customer issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions in order to improve overall service to our customers.
- Track and trace shipments, as required, or when requested by customer
- Recommend, develop, and enhance operational procedures in order to improve internal processes and resolve shipment exceptions.
- Follow all internal or customer standard operating procedures in order to provide consistent quality service to our customers.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management
- Meet all assigned team or individual key performance indicators
- Ability to work within a dedicated team environment in order to provide consistency in service.
- Provide claim forms to customers and administrative assistance, when required, on shipments resulting in damage or loss.
- College degree preferred
- 2 or more years of customer service, transportation management, or 3PL experience
- Understanding of LTL rating, to include, freight class, density, and NMFC determination.
- Knowledge of LTL carrier tariffs and rules along with accessorial charges
- Ability to effectively present and communicate to customers
- Understanding of transportation management systems (TMS)
- Ability to manage inbound and outbound calls along with effective and responsive email communication
- Ability to convey business and service requirements to outside vendors
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Provide afterhours customer support, when assigned
