Job Title: Dean of Students
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County, Lonetree Colorado
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Headmaster
Typical Schedule: Full-time, Extended year Calendar, M-F, School days, professional development days, and workdays.
Start Date:June 1, 2025
- Please note all teachers will need to be able to attend training in Hillsdale, MI, for up to 10 days in June. ACACS and Hillsdale cover travel to the conference, lodging, and food.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the headmaster in school operations
- Serve on the Site Executive Team
- Support enrollment, registration, and faculty hiring
- Update student handbooks, policies, and procedures
- Participate in faculty and staff committees related to student affairs
- Facilitate community outreach events
- Contribute to talent acquisition and retention
- Teach or co-teach at least one class
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance

Student Discipline and Behavioral Intervention
- Foster a student culture of respect, virtue, integrity, and citizenship
- Implement disciplinary procedures per state law and school policy
- Manage daily disciplinary issues, ensuring policy compliance
- Communicate with staff and parents regarding student behavior
- Develop and implement student behavior plans
- Maintain accurate disciplinary records and reports
- Monitor class rosters for group dynamics and potential issues
- Oversee classroom management and in-class discipline
Faculty Supervision, Training, and Support
- Assist staff in setting behavioral expectations and management plans
- Provide instructional support for behavioral intervention and discipline
- Train faculty in discipline documentation and record-keeping
- Conduct classroom observations and evaluations
- Supervise and evaluate personnel related to discipline and character development
- Lead professional development on student discipline and culture
- Manage and mentor student-facing administrators and coordinators
- Support teacher growth in classroom management and discipline
Student Culture and Activities
- Oversee student induction and orientation
- Manage student activities, house system, clubs, and extracurricular programs
- Supervise house system operations and approve house events
- Oversee student club approvals and sponsor coordination
- Approve and manage club, athletic, and fine arts fundraising
- Plan and facilitate after-school activities and events
Student Attendance
- Monitor attendance and address truancy issues
- Communicate attendance concerns with parents and students
- Develop and implement attendance improvement plans
Collaboration
- Assist the headmaster in school operations
- Serve on the Site Executive Team
- Support enrollment, registration, and faculty hiring
- Update student handbooks, policies, and procedures

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
- Experience in classical education preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Professional interaction with students, staff, and parents
- Proven strong work habits and organizational skills
- Understanding of classical pedagogy and philosophy
- Ability to maintain records and reports manually or digitally

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school

- Required for supervising hallways, monitoring classrooms, observing teachers, and supporting after-school activities and events
- Capacity to attend and facilitate activities, events, and meetings that may extend beyond regular school hours, including evening and weekend events
