Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County, Lone Tree, CO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Dean of Operations

Work Days: Daily contracted services, as needed

Wage Range: $22.00/hour

We are seeking dedicated and passionate substitute teachers to join our growing team. As a substitute teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of instruction and supporting our mission of delivering a classical education.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
• Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular Instructor.
• Ensure that ACADC policies are observed during all activities.
• Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
• Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times.
• Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, and severe storm and tornado warning procedures. Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment.
• Report for duty 30 minutes early and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher.
• Fulfill other daily duties as assigned to the regular teacher such as recess, carpool, lunch duty, etc.
• Leave detailed notes for teacher on any issues experienced during the day.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado
• Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, superior organization, and computer skills
• Eligibility to work in the United States
• Satisfactory background check is required by state law and Colorado Department of Education

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height by bending or leaning in order to teach each child
• Must be able to supervise outdoor activities
