Job Title: Grammar School Mentor
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Dean of Grammar School
Work Hours/Days: 20-25 hours per week; flexible hours but assumes all school days
Salary Range: $38-$42
Desired Start Date: *August 2025
- Please note all teachers will need to be able to attend training in Hillsdale, MI, for up to 10 days in June. ACACS and Hillsdale cover travel to the conference, lodging, and food.

Essential Functions:

Mentor and coach a grammar school teacher in the following areas by modeling and providing one-on-one feedback:
- Unit and Lesson planning
- Organization and organizing tools for assigning, collecting, grading, and returning graded work to students
- Proctoring and supervising tests and major projects
- Developing age-appropriate classroom activities and projects
- Monitoring and adjusting teaching for developments in student progress
- Collaborating with student services to provide instruction as appropriate for students with IEPs, 504s, or other learning plans
- Professional, regular communication with parents
- Collaborating on schoolwide professional development plans based on teacher needs
- Maintain confidentiality in student records
- Maintain a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
- Perform other related duties as directed
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 36 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (Colorado Teaching license is NOT required).
- 5 years of classroom teaching experience
- Commitment to the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction
- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
- All faculty and teaching support staff will be required to participate in a study of Tried and True by Daniel Copeland and The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis
- Adherence to all school policies.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Creative problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer
- Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
