FLSA Status : Exempt
Reports To : Dean of Student Services
Work days : Monday-Friday, school and professional development days
Compensation Range : $44,000 - $55,000 annually
Start Date : Immediately
Position Summary
At Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction, Special Education teachers create their own lessons within the framework set by our content-rich curriculum in collaboration with colleagues and in partnership with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative. Teachers are dedicated to mastering the key elements of their instruction and to the intellectual and moral betterment of their students. Ascent Classical Academy of Charter Schools teachers take seriously their own moral and intellectual improvement as part of a hard-working, supportive, and excellence-driven culture.
Special Education teachers should have experience and / or training to work with gifted and talented students and students with various learning disabilities. Teachers should be thorough with a strong attention to detail and timeliness. The special education teacher will work alongside the Dean of Student Services, fellow special education teachers, and paraprofessionals to meet IEP plan goals, track content area minutes, hold annual meetings and write individualized education plans. Successful candidates will foster professional relationships with faculty and staff, seek collaborative relationships with parents, and mentor students in the pursuit of their own flourishing. Teachers are expected to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues and the pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Bachelor's degree
- Current license in Special Education
- Strong background in content areas; willingness to receive specific training
- Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education

- Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group Services(MEGS) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS. Through this partnership, MEGS provides employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services, and access to a 401(k) plan. For naming purposes, Minga Education Group is the employer.
