Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND)-Brighton, CO

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Assistant Headmaster

Work Hours/Days: School days, 7:15-3:30 each day; faculty and staff development days as well. Part-time (following the school's Tuesday-Thursday and Monday-Wednesday schedule) is a possibility.

Desired Start Date: August 1, 2025

Salary Range: $18-$20 per hour

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Lunch and Recess Supervisor and Teacher Aide who would assist and serve students' meals during lunchtime, and provide general support for our Student Nutrition Services department. Duties also include supervising recesses and assisting teachers with instruction as available during the day.

Located in Brighton, CO, just 3 miles from I-25, Ascent Classical of Northern Denver (ACAND) is a growing school of over 300 students that will offer grades K-9 in the 2025-26 school year, with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year.

Essential Functions:

• Facilitate daily meal service for students
• Meet the individualized needs of each student while assisting at lunchtime
• Keeping records of stock and reordering supplies as needed
• Supervise lunch ordering process for parents and communications with our hot lunch provider
• Maintain files and appropriate paperwork for related assigned duty
• Maintain orderly student conduct in the lunchroom.
• Clean and sterilize tables, seating, floors and other equipment used during food service
• Set up and clean up of the lunchroom during the week each day
• Communicate daily with other PT lunchroom staff and supervisor about meal quality and any lunchroom issues
• Ensure safe and welcoming environment for all students
• Assist with daily operations of the school such as supervision of beginning and end of day routines and procedures, lunch and recess times, and other transitional periods
• Assist with classroom "housekeeping" items such as collecting, organizing, and grading students' work and materials, copying worksheets, distributing materials and items, keeping a tidy classroom)
• Collaborate directly with the lead teacher(s) to develop and implement a content rich classical education by following curriculum guidelines and expectations
• Maintain confidentiality in student records
• Maintain a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
• Effectively communicate with supervisor and teammates
• Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• School experience preferred

• Ability to work with a diverse student population and staff
• Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to traverse stairs, the classroom and school building
• Must be able to supervise outdoor recess periods for up to 40 minutes outdoors
• Be able to be on your feet for the majority of the scheduled shift
• Be able to lift 40 pounds and awareness of proper lifting procedures, especially when handling heavy cartons and containers
• Able to utilize sanitation chemicals properly for cleaning duties
