FLSA Status : Part Time- Non-Exempt

Reports to : Dean of Operations

Work Hours / Days : School days, Monday through Friday, 11 : 30-3 : 30

Desired Start Date : August 2024

Hourly Wage Range : $ 18.60-$19.60 per hour

The Lunch and Recess Aide at Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County is responsible for supervising students during lunch and recess periods. The aide ensures the safety and well-being of students, promotes positive social interactions and assists in maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

Essential Functions :

Supervision :

Monitor students during lunch and recess to ensure their safety and appropriate behavior
Enforce school rules and policies to maintain a respectful and orderly environment
Address any behavioral issues promptly and report them to the appropriate school staff

Student Interaction :

Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all students feel safe and respected

Encourage positive social interactions among students and help mediate conflicts when necessary

Assist students with any needs or issues that arise during lunch and recess

Safety and First Aid :

Ensure all playground and cafeteria areas are safe and free of hazards

Provide basic first aid when necessary and report any injuries to school administration

Be prepared to respond to emergencies in accordance with school policies and procedures

Cleanliness and Organization :

Assist in the setup and cleanup of the cafeteria before and after lunch periods

Encourage students to clean up after themselves and maintain cleanliness in eating and play areas

Report any maintenance or repair needs to the school administration

Communication :

Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed

Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required

Collaborate with other aides and school personnel to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment

Position Requirements :

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience working with children in a school or recreational setting is preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to enforce school rules and policies fairly and consistently

Basic first aid knowledge and the ability to respond to emergencies

Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude

Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado

Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government

Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members

Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements :

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds

Ability to stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periods

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
