Summary of Position: As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you'll play a key role in ensuring the success of construction projects through field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt on transportation-related projects. Your communication skills will be vital as you coordinate with contractors, foreman, project managers, engineering teams, and clients. With opportunities for travel and potential overnight stays, this full-time position offers a dynamic and hands-on experience. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ability to interpert civil/site construction documents.
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and others) as directed per training and specified procedures.
- Provide clear documentation of daily activities, project changes, and quantities.
- Maintains equipment and calibration.
- Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Ability and willingness to take certification classes to obtain more technical skills.
Job Requirements/Qualifcations:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Materials testing, transportation, and inspection experience are highly desirable.
- West Virginia Department of Highways testing certifications or American Concrete Institute certifications are highly desirable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
