What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder/Fabricator position at Ascential Technologies?
Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Reads blueprints for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut. Obtains and transfers stock to machine
- Measures work for conformance to specifications
- Retrieves parts from staging areas
- Helps prep weldments for priming and finish coating
- Positions and secures work piece to table, angle plate, or vises and verifies position
- Interprets machine readings and adds or subtracts weight depending on the reading
- Drills, grinds, chips, or files metal from heavy side or welds, solders or rivets pieces to light side to correct imbalance
- Verifies dimensions of machined work piece with a tape measure within 1/8 of an inch.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques and processes
- 4 years of fabrication experience preferred
- Structural welding experience preferred
- Basic math skills, especially the ability to read a tape measure and measuring instruments
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications
- Owns hand tools and measuring tools
