PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position exists to support the Internal Audit and Quality Control team in reviewing and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of credit union operations. The intern will assist with audit preparation, execution, and follow-up, as well as contribute to the ongoing enhancement of internal controls and processes. The position will also provide support to the compliance, risk management, and reporting aspects of auditing. A key responsibility will be to help identify areas for improvement and support quality control efforts across various operational functions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in preparing and conducting internal audits for various credit union functions and processes.
• Review data and identify potential risks or errors in processes, helping to highlight areas of improvement.
• Collaborate with team members to evaluate internal controls and ensure compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Support the preparation and documentation of audit reports, ensuring accurate recording of findings.
• Follow up on audit recommendations, ensuring proper implementation and resolution.
• Analyze internal processes for effectiveness and assist in recommending process improvements.
• Help maintain records and ensure proper documentation of audit activities, findings, and action plans.
• Work closely with the Internal Audit Manager and other team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of audit tasks.
• Participate in regular meetings with the Internal Audit & Quality Control team to discuss progress and areas for improvement.
• Assist with additional quality control tasks as needed to support the department.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work 12-29 hours per week.
• Interest in internal auditing, risk management, and quality control processes.
• Knowledge of auditing principles and practices (preferred, but not required).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
The following physical activities will be required on a day-to-day basis: climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, pulling, fingering, feeling, hearing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, standing, pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, repetitive motions.

None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
HUMAN RELATION SKILLS NEEDED:
The ability to communicate effectively with members, staff, and contacts outside of the credit union in a polite, courteous timely, accurate and efficient manner. Patience in dealing with a difficult member.
