Job Title: Fleet and Yard Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: CEO/Owner
Location: Based in Durango, CO
Summary:
Busy specialty construction contractor searching for an experienced, motivated, and knowledgeable fleet and yard coordinator. Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience in shop/yard management and organization, coordination of vehicle and equipment maintenance, and DOT regulations.
Essential Duties:
· Support field personnel with retrieving and delivering materials, tools, equipment needed for projects throughout the day. Work to be proactive to minimize trips per day but flexible enough to allow for emergencies.
· Organize and maintain cleanliness of yard/shop.
· Track and coordinate regular vehicle and equipment maintenance to ensure safe and optimal operations with minimal downtime; maintain repair and maintenance logs.
· Coordinate with coworkers who are bringing material and equipment to yard; direct placement of material/equipment.
· Coordinate and/or perform DOT regulated annual inspections of vehicles and trailers; outsource items that are outside area of expertise.
· Assist with ensuring DOT regulations are adhered to and followed by company drivers.
· Coordinate with owner on dollar budget for needed new equipment and repairs. Advise on ideas to help with maintaining budget.
· Support and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Ability to take initiative and get tasks completed with minimal supervision.
· Detail oriented and organized.
· Ability to drive straight truck and trailer combination including safe hook-up of trailer and ability to back-up with trailer attached.
· Knowledge of DOT regulations (CDL Helpful).
· Mechanically inclined.
· Analyze problems and make decisions within scope of duties.
· Knowledge of wide range of tools and equipment including mini excavators, skid steers, trailers, and power tools.
· Team player with positive and cooperative attitude.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
Education and Experience:
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in shop/yard management or similar responsibilities.
· Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record; CDL helpful.
· Forklift certification helpful.
Work Environment:
Typically, Monday-Friday 7AM-4PM but can flex earlier or later depending on the situation. Based primarily at ASCO office located in Durango, CO. May require daily travel to job sites throughout southern Colorado and western New Mexico. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50lbs. Must be able to climb stairs and navigate from one level to another, work in uneven terrain and inclement weather.
