Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to support the design, development, and delivery of reports, dashboards, and analytics that provide actionable insights for key business functions such as Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Actuary. This role involves hands-on work with data and PowerBI to enable better decision-making and contribute to our data-driven culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with data, has strong analytical, visualization skills, and can communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to understand and meet their information needs.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
The salary for this position for New York Metro and Chicago is $110,000 - $125,000

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions (reports, dashboards, data visualizations).
- Develop, test, and deploy BI content using Power BI to support strategic and operational business needs.
- Perform detailed data analysis and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency of BI outputs.
- Support ongoing efforts to standardize key metrics and reporting across departments.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including other BI professionals and data analysts, to ensure data quality and alignment on BI initiatives.
- Participate in data governance efforts by contributing to prioritization, documentation, and process improvements.
- Provide support in selecting and implementing new BI tools, platforms, or enhancements.
- Maintain and optimize existing BI solutions to improve performance and usability.
- Stay current on BI trends and best practices to continuously enhance reporting capabilities.
- 3–6 years of experience in Business Intelligence, data analysis, or related roles within the Property & Casualty insurance, Specialty Insurance, or financial sectors.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI to build interactive dashboards and reports.
- Advanced skills in SQL and Microsoft Excel for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Strong understanding of data models, data warehousing, and data integration concepts.
- Proven ability to work with large, complex data sets and translate data into meaningful business insights.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player who enjoys problem-solving and continuous improvement.
