One of ASG Pharmacy's major clients in Derby, CT is currently seeking an Inpatient Pharmacist . This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in an acute care community hospital and contribute to the well-being of our patients. Pharmacist Responsibilities :
- Prepares and dispenses medications and associated pharmaceutical supplies ordered by physicians for use by inpatients, outpatients, and various hospital departments.
- Responsible for filling & refilling of all patient orders during the assigned shift. Delegates responsibilities to ensure patient care is #1.
- Weighs, measures & mixes ingredients; compounds & prepares medication, emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments using such equipment as graduates, balance, mortars, pestles and funnels.
- Dispenses additives for I.V. and irrigating solutions. Mixes I.V. additive solutions and chemotherapy as required using aseptic technique with the laminar airflow hood, if needed.
- Inspects pharmacy inventory to ensure that drugs, which are outdated and / or have lost their potency, are removed from stock and replaced. Assumes responsibility to maintain adequate inventory by placing orders when needed.
- Organizes daily operational duties in the dispensing function. Support personnel are under the direction of a pharmacist.
- Serves in an educational capacity for patients and staff. Gives in-services to Hospital staff relating to Pharmacy procedures and drug information such as availability, toxicology, investigational uses, etc.
