Summary:
The Maintenance Planner plans and coordinates maintenance activities conducted at the plant. This position maintains plant assets with a proactive maintenance philosophy to achieve plant production, cost, quality, safety, and environmental goals. The position schedules maintenance jobs to maximize plant and equipment efficiency and minimize downtime. The Maintenance Planner provides indirect supervision over maintenance crew members and direct supervision over specific contractors. This position must be available for infrequent evening and weekend work.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Plans, schedules, coordinates preventive maintenance, maintenance projects, and mechanical repair activities, and provides technical assistance to maintenance crews.
- Ensures compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
- Conducts and attends department and plant safety meetings.
- Plans modifications and improvements of plant equipment and structures to improve efficiency.
- Maintains resource library, provides equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, online information, and blueprints.
- Supports and complies with the plant Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) guidelines. Facilitates MEP process.
- Ensures appropriate levels of repair parts are maintained by storeroom personnel.
- Assists in preparing the budget for capital expenditures planned for maintenance projects and repairs.
- Determines labor requirements for specific jobs and job planning.
- Develops and maintains Standard Job Plans.
- Maintains work history of all plant equipment and keeps a complete and updated list of plant equipment.
- Coordinates, writes, and reviews regularly SOPs and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) related to the department monthly.
- Conducts, reviews, and reports S.A.F.E observations and scheduled area inspections.
- Participates in and leads morning and afternoon scheduling meetings. Works with mechanical supervisors and assists with daily scheduling.
- Establishes position as a positive role model for plant safety, health, and environmental issues and asserts "safety and environmental leadership" in all aspects of each daily routine.
- Participates in the plant Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) team.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc
- Minimum Vocational /Technical degree in a related area. In lieu of degree/diploma equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Maintenance role in cement or Industrial plant preferred
- Proficient in English written, verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
- Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects
- Ability to acquire knowledge in the area of specialty
- Ability to utilize independent judgment in performing responsibilities
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair required by plant equipment and structures
- Knowledge of government regulations such as EPA and MSHA as they relate to maintenance and repair projects
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
