POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates behavior intervention services for students within GNETS. Works with GNETS staff members and all stakeholders to promote various methods of implementing behavior modification strategies and collecting appropriate data. This position reports to the Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, implements, and monitors progress of behavioral management programs for students. Participates in the development of the individual educational programs for students. Participates as a team member in the evaluation of student progress. Provides developmental therapy support to the Autism Program.
Plans and confers with the instructional staff concerning behavioral, social and developmental needs of students. Develops and conduct in-service activities regarding behavior modification techniques that address behavioral, social and developmental deficits. Assists instructional staff with development of FBA (function behavioral assessments) and implementation of BIP (behavior intervention plans).
Assists in the updating of reports such as IEP present levels of performance, IEP goals and objective and Exit Criteria to inform parents of student progress. Completes reports for appropriate local and state educational agencies. Participates as a team member in referring those students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate community agencies through the LIPT and RIPT processes.
Liaises with other state, metro agencies, as well as private/public schools and institutions to continually enhance and promote maximum behavior intervention programs, methods, and strategies for students.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in educational related field required.
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience within an area of special education required. Experience in the development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) required.
Prior experience coordinating behavior intervention programs in a K-12 public school environment; makes decisions and final recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others.
Georgia Professional Certification at Teaching – 5 (T-5) required.
Moderate level of judgment: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives and approve executive-level decisions.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
Requires frequent contact with external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
Requires excellent presentation, written and verbal skills.
Applies technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of data collection; must be proficient with computer.
May require travel to off-site locations and school site visits.
