SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, temporary position anticipated to end October 1, 2025
Join the Co-op team! We are looking for a Temporary Morning Produce Assistant Manager to assist the Produce Manager in running the Produce Department, to meet objectives for sales, margin, and customer service, and to ensure that department policies and procedures are being followed.
- Experience supervising employees.
- Experience with organic produce.
- Familiarity/experience with natural foods.
- Experience serving the public.
- Good communication skills, good listening skills, ability to give clear instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
General Responsibilities:
- Will perform primary purchasing duties for the department along with merchandising around the department.
- Order and monitor receiving of all produce products, process incoming orders accurately and efficiently.
- Provide supervision, leadership, and direction for personnel when needed.
- Take on daily shift work as needed, i.e., receiving, wet case, stocking and other duties as assigned.
- Monitor day-to-day department operation.
- Ensure all departments products are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness and availability.
- Work closely with local farmers.
- Be familiar with store product standards and USDA organic standards, and ensure product orders are in compliance.
- Orient and train new Produce staff thoroughly as assigned.
- Maintain strict confidentiality about personnel issues.
