Job Overview
Ashland Police Department has a lateral transfer program that honors up to ten years of previous law enforcement experience for an increase in starting pay and vacation credit. Duties
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, including emergencies and non-emergencies.
- Conduct investigations into crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Enforce traffic laws, issue citations, and conduct traffic stops.
- Engage with community members to build relationships and promote safety initiatives.
- Provide first aid and CPR in emergency situations as needed.
- Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents with care and professionalism.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills in surveillance, loss prevention, and law enforcement techniques.
Skills
- Strong report writing skills for documenting incidents accurately.
- Must either be certified in Wisconsin or another state or able to attend 18 week basic recruit school to become certified after being hired.
- Must have 60 college credits or able to obtain them within three years of employment.
- Ability to operate within a militarized framework when necessary while maintaining community relations.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with diverse populations.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.12 - $34.98 per hour
Expected hours: 72 – 96 per week
