Ashland Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School Art Teacher with a focus on Graphic Design for grades 6-8 at Ashland Middle School. The ideal candidate will provide engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in visual arts, emphasizing graphic design principles and digital media. This position requires implementing a comprehensive art curriculum, fostering creativity, and collaborating with colleagues to support student success.
This position will begin in the 25-26 school year.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based art instruction with a focus on graphic design for students in grades 6-8
Plan and implement lessons that align with Massachusetts Visual Arts Frameworks
Introduce students to graphic design concepts, digital media tools, and artistic techniques
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and artistic expression
Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to integrate visual arts education across the school
Manage student behavior effectively to maximize participation and learning
Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to families as needed
Support school-wide arts initiatives and contribute to a creative school culture
Requirements:
Massachusetts DESE certification in Visual Arts for middle school (grades 6-8) or related field
Strong knowledge of best practices in visual arts education, including graphic design and digital media
Experience working with middle school students in an educational setting preferred
Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
